End User Licence Agreement
The licence terms for the SAM desktop apps. This is also shown during installation.
Last updated: 30 May 2026
1. Licence Grant
The SAM app for Windows and the SAM menu in 3ds Max are licensed, not sold. Subject to an active subscription or trial, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the software for your own professional use. Your licence permits activation on a limited number of devices per seat; the exact limit depends on your plan. This EULA supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which are incorporated by reference.
2. Device Activation & Licence Verification
To enforce licensing and prevent unauthorised sharing, the software generates a one-way hardware identifier (HWID) for your device and periodically contacts our servers to verify your subscription, licence, and registered devices. An internet connection is required for activation and verification. We do not store raw hardware serial numbers — see the Privacy Policy.
3. Restrictions
You may not redistribute, resell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to circumvent the licensing, device-limit, or verification mechanisms of the software.
4. Third-Party Content
The software is a workflow tool. It does not grant any rights to third-party 3D assets, models, or marketplace content. You are responsible for holding the necessary accounts and rights, and for complying with the terms of any marketplace or service you use the software with.
5. No Warranty; No Liability for Data Loss — Keep Backups
The software is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. It reads, writes, moves, renames, modifies, and may delete files on your system — including 3D scenes, models, textures, materials, IES/light files, archives, downloaded assets, generated previews, and any other files or project data it processes or creates. You use these features at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, corruption, deletion, or damage to any of your files, scenes, assets, or data. You are responsible for maintaining current, independent backups before running any download, batch, or file-modifying operation. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
6. Data & Privacy
The software stores data locally on your device (asset library index, previews, settings, logs, and the HWID) and transmits only the account, licence, and usage data described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Termination
This licence terminates automatically if your subscription or trial ends, or if you breach this Agreement. On termination you must stop using the software.
8. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Your mandatory statutory consumer rights are not affected.
